Cody + James Wedding

Cody + James
Last weekend I ventured out to Tualatin Estate Vinyards, in Forest Grove, where I had the honor of photographing the union of Cody and James. With a little bit of deja vu to recent weddings, the day started out with dark clouds, rain, wind, a little thunder here and there.. and by the time to say "Yaaas!" the sun was shining. Everything about this wedding was perfect. The location couldn't have had better views. The wine couldn't have been more delicious. The couple couldn't have been more in love. The families kept the party going till well after sunset.
To point out the obvious, this was a same-sex marriage; two guys madly in love getting hitched. This was the first time I've photographed a wedding like this (and hopefully not the last.) It feels weird to call it anything but simply a wedding. There's nothing different about a same-sex wedding, and as a wedding photographer I've been to all kinds of weddings; two souls coming together before their family and friends and committing their lives to each other. It's an awesome display of love and dedication. This love is real, and it's powerful. The ferocity of this love is not dampened by gender or social norms, it pays no attention to opinions or beliefs; it's a tangible connection between these two souls.
I wish you two the best in life, and can't wait to see your family grow over the years.
Congratulations Cody and James!
